Bicycle Carbon Footprint

by Sprocket on January 18, 2010

There is conflicting info on the relative carbon footprint of a bicycle verses an automobile.  Here is one site that says it compares 1 to 1448, figuring a daily commuter bike versus a car.   At Bicycle Universe.info they claim to take into account all the extra meat eating that a cyclist needs for the energy – vegetarians score much more efficiently.  They have an interesting, if not incredible calculator, that will compare your carbon footprint.  That calculation shows up a meager 50% less carbon footprint for me if I ride my bike to work….mmmmm.
